Verse on Worry
Mathew 6:25–26 The Message “If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.
Thoughts on worry and Christians
I’ve met a few Christians who admit they worry. I’ve met so many more that call worrying prayer and wonder why their prayers don’t get answered. You have a good Father who loves you and I have tips to help you to stop the worry today.
4 Tips to stop the worry
1. Agree with the fact God cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
2. Live out of your relationship.
12 times in Matthew 6 Jesus used a term for God that was rarely used in Hebrew Scriptures — He called him Father.
3. Pray about everything.
Philippians 4:6–7 (NLT) Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Don’t try to stop worrying. How can you stop thinking about something by thinking about not thinking about it? All you end up doing is putting condemnation on yourself when you start to worry. Instead, learn to take those worries and turn them into fervent, effective prayers.
Make it a habit to think about what you think about. When you find yourself thinking about things you worry or fear, turn it over to praying about the truth about God and His promises for you. And keep your worries for your prayer time. If you find yourself worried or fearful in the day, put it off until your prayer time. You can train yourself to put off those thoughts until later. You can even tell them, “Not now.” If you find you can’t put those worries off, start your prayer time then and there.
4. Choose to be thankful.
Gratitude is the attitude that changes worries into promises. -Trevorism
Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Romans 1:21 (New Living Translation)
Can I pray?
Heavenly Father, I thank you we can trust you. I thank you when we trust you we have peace. I pray all of us can feel like we’re walking with you in the garden in the cool of the day. I pray we’ll respond to you your care, live out of who you say we are, pray about everything with thanksgiving. Amen
